Pam started her journey in Michigan, where she danced in her mother’s dance studio, listened to her grandparents music making, and admired her uncle’s photography. She doesn’t remember wanting to be anything other than an artist. She recalls delighting in the arrival of Post and Life magazines’ images, which framed her view of the world. She couldn’t wait to get out of high school and go to Ringling School of Art where she could learn how to become an artist.

She continues her artistic journey combining art making and teaching in varied settings, especially as a resident teaching artist while parenting. Working as a paneled resident artist through the Georgia Council for the Arts, museums, and art centers has expanded her artist’s vocabulary. The re murals created in schools and communities throughout Georgia has provided experiences of true southern hospitality and a historical picture of Georgia’s development and its people.

As an educator, Pam passionately believes in honoring one’s authentic artistic voice. Utilizing the arts as the entry point to academic learning engages the student in deeper learning experiences, creating life long learners.

Pam’s personal artistic journey currently is consumed with drawing expressive figures, which she says, “ I believe are part of a path to find my fit in the changing fabric of the world”. The figure drawings are now the inspiration for a series of intaglio prints. She continues to pursue and study printmaking, papermaking, and book arts, anticipating the next layer to add to her vocabulary of art making. Collaborative projects with other artists are of interest; she is currently working with Katy Dement creating biodegradable installations of handmade recycled papers embedded with seeds that perpetuate natural order and more artistic opportunities.
