Artist Statement:

Living in the South by definition means to struggle. We continue to suffer from the remnants of the Civil War – that is to say looked down upon by our northern neighbors. But we are smart in different ways. Rich in culture, bound more closely to the earth. With my work on The Neugents I was able to preserve one small vignette of this vanishing tradition.
